8th European Economic Congress

The 8th European Economic Congress was held in Katowice, Poland, on May 18-20, 2016. The Congress – the most important economic event in Central Europe – covers subjects dedicated to new directions of thinking about the economic future of Europe.

Łukasz Grela, President of EPK, participated in the session on Reconstruction and development of generation capacities in Poland. The discussion covered, among others, subjects such as the risk of a deficit, causes and other risks of power balance; projects under construction versus the possibilities of balancing power in the longer term; the national programme of developing new capacities and the role of energy corporations; conditions for investing – profitability, guarantees and stability; and single-commodity vs. double-commodity energy markets.

Other participants taking part in the discussion were: Kazimierz Szynol (Director, TAURON Wytwarzanie SA), Iga Lis (Partner, CMS), Mariusz Marciniak (Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe, Doosan), Andrzej Twardowski (Project Managing Director, GE Power Polska, Project Manager of Opole Power Plant) and Agnieszka Wasilewska-Semail (President, Director, Rafako SA). The discussion was moderated by Michał Lubieniecki (Partner, Financial Consulting Department, Deloitte).

The Congress was attended by several thousand guests from Poland and other European countries as well as from Asia and Africa.
